Victory for Putin

Not a big surprise. The Russians have been through such staggering years of social upheaval in 20th century, if they found even a moderate form of stability I would expect them to hang onto it with their dear lives.

MOSCOW (AP) — Vladimir Putin rolled to a crushing re-election victory Sunday for six more years as Russia’s president, and he told cheering supporters in a triumphant but brief speech that “we are bound for success.”

There had been no doubt that Putin would win in his fourth electoral contest; he faced seven minor candidates and his most prominent foe was blocked from the ballot.
His only real challenge was to run up the tally so high that he could claim an indisputable mandate.

With ballots from 80 percent of Russia’s precincts counted by early Monday, Putin had amassed 76 percent of the vote. Observers and individual voters reported widespread violations including ballot-box stuffing and forced voting, but the claims are unlikely to dilute the power of Russia’s longest-serving leader since Josef Stalin.

As the embodiment of Russia’s resurgent power on the world stage, Putin commands immense loyalty among Russians. More than 30,000 crowded into Manezh Square adjacent to the Kremlin in temperatures of minus-10 degrees (15-degrees F) for a victory concert and to await his words.

Putin extolled them for their support — “I am a member of your team” — and he promised them that “we are bound for success.”

Then he left the stage after speaking for less than two minutes, a seemingly perfunctory appearance that encapsulated the election’s predictability.

Since he took the helm in Russia on New Year’s Eve 1999 after Boris Yeltsin’s surprise resignation, Putin’s electoral power has centered on stability, a quality cherished by Russians after the chaotic breakup of the Soviet Union and the “wild capitalism” of the Yeltsin years.

Notice how the mainstream media didn’t hesitate to compare Putin’s long standing position to Stalin’s and claim that forced voting took place? Ironic given that the mainstream media didn’t give a damn about Stalin’s reign of terror during his time in power and came back to the United States claiming communist Russia was a vision of a perfected future. And that they fail to take illegal voting in the United States seriously but apparently forced voting in Russia merits mentioning.

A tweet from Lana Lokteff of Red Ice TV reveals how stiff the competition was and what the opposition had to offer. Given her Slavic roots, I imagine she watched the Russian election with great interest.

Putin winning.

In 2nd, Jewish Communist Pavel Grudinin. Russia has had enough bloodshed & ruin by his fellow Bolsheviks!

In 3rd a ‘Russian nationalist’ who is Jewish.

If a commie won, the west would love Russia!

And where is the lie? Mainstream media journalists loved Russia when they thought communism could be applied here in the U.S. if they just subverted the nation a little more, rocking it to its core piece by piece and degrading everything that made the West superior. But let’s face it, the mainstream media doesn’t hate Putin or Russia because he’s a supposed tyrant. They hate him because he symbolizes the failure of communism. And Russia can never be forgiven for giving up on communism.

I will be the first to admit that I don’t keep up with Russian politics unless the mainstream wants to trash Putin. And why would I? My concerns are about the West. Let Putin take care of Russia and let the Russians decide what is best for Russia. And I guess that’s was really pisses off the mainstream media. The Russians did what they thought was best for their own country, which wasn’t going with another commie.
